Inauguration of 500 KVA underground transformer station, the first of its kind in the country
Inauguration ceremony of 500 KVA underground transformer station, the first of its kind in the country, was held today on September 05, 2023 (Tuesday) at 11 am at 15th Cross Road, Malleswaram Division.
Energy Minister K.J. George inaugurated the program, former Deputy Chief Minister and MLA of Malleswaram Assembly Constituency Dr. C.N. Aswath Narayan presided.
This underground transformer station has been set up in Malleswaram section of Bengaluru at a cost of Rs 1.97 crore in partnership with BESCOM and BBMP.
Under this, BESCOM has constructed 500 KVA oil-free transformer, 8 way solid state ring main unit, 5 way LT at a cost of Rs.1.33 crore. All electrical equipment required for underground transformer station including distribution box, 2 KVA UPS, 1 HP water pump (automatic), air conditioning system (automatic), electric lights, fire fighting equipment are installed. BBMP has released a grant of Rs.64 lakh for the civil works of this project.
Also, under this project, the entire system including distribution transformers, ring main units, feeder pillar boxes are being converted underground, so as to avoid electrical accidents and reduce the loss of power supply. This project will also help in providing quality electricity.
